Over a week ago I shared that a baby boy was born yet abandoned by his mother. Many of you prayed for him so I wanted to share how God has helped this child. His mother is of a religion in Sudan where she could be legally put to death by her family for having a child outside of marriage. She also would lose her masters degree scholarship if she was found to have born a child. (Many of you ask how could that be hidden…well…Sudanese are VERY tall and she covers from her head to her toes in black draped fabric.)
She did return after leaving him for the weekend to inform the medical center she couldn’t possibly keep him though she hoped in the future to be able to bring him into her life. The medical staff was able to find a Ugandan foster family for him for six months.
Meanwhile a friend of ours, and sponsor at Kirabo Seeds, helped us identify an organization who helps vulnerable children such as these find foster homes, or they help the mother, or they house the children in their own facility temporarily. They are http://www.childrensifoundation.org Maybe you will have a look at their good work.
I asked Irene to let the medical center know about this organization so when other children are born and abandoned they will know who to call and how to get the children help. It seems there is always a disconnect between the needy and the helpers in Uganda. It feels good to at least know this baby is cared for, the mother might be able to have him herself some day, and there are organizations established with good reputations to help in these situations. I’m also thankful to be able to bridge the gap between the needy and the helpers.
Thank you for your prayers.
