This weekend was the world missions mandate, and Donny was supposed to be there with all of his friends working, but he gave up his ticket to a freshman who wanted to go so much but didn’t have a ticket. (sweet guy all around) I feel so honored by him after he made this choice all on his own. I did not tell him what to do. We would have understood that he had commitments this weekend. The bigger boys stayed at his house he shares with four other guys. The rest of us shared the Hilton with the football team! Who knew the team spent Friday night before the game at this hotel! It was so much fun to see these huge guys in the elevator wearing team colors.
The game was postponed in the second quarter because of lightning. When the second half was underway thunder and rain chased us all away. As we fled the stadium the announcers called the game because Baylor was killing the other team anyway.
It is easy to appreciate a team that runs onto the field, kneels down and prays before a game.
Blending our family with the Anthis family was so easy, they really act like cousins! It was nice for all of us just to forget about life and work and have fun together. It’s also nice that our kids all enjoy being with us, we aren’t the dreaded ball and chain.
I forgot how much fun a football game can be…even if you are only marginally interested in the game… I think this will need to be an annual activity, and we can only hope more of our kids attend this school.
Jack and Abigail have already declared this is the school for them. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin found himself here as well. And Jordan even mentioned he would like to apply, however, he is set on doing ROTC, which means A&M would be a better fit for him. So we’ll see…but meanwhile I love it that Donny is thriving here. It’s a fantastic school.
