I believe I can make a difference in this world.
I read this quote this morning and it struck me: “We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.” ~Sam Ullman
I don’t want a wrinkly soul. Ewww… I believe God introduced me to these children on Christmas Eve 2010 to push into the arena of working towards making their lives better. When we met them their food storage was empty, they could go to bed hungry, they were not in school, they were sleeping on the hard dirt ground and they were dressed in rags. I know I felt God push back on my doubts and fears until I believed: He would make it happen. I had to go through the door and trust Him. So I went.
Now, they are all in school, they have food, beds, sheets, health care, animals, and 20 acres that will become their home. And now books are going to make their way into their hands. My job has been to invite anyone with a heart for these children to join in and make a difference. Thank you to all who have joined the Kirabo Seeds team!
Anyone who has reached out in some way to these children in Uganda have changed lives with such a significant impact that I wish it were possible to contain it in a visible way. To wrap our minds around how simple a bag of marshmallows, a set of sheets, a book, a letter and photos can turn the discomfort and loneliness of a child into a celebration is to share these photos with you. Thank you for making a difference in these children’s lives. And if you want to jump in, contact me! firstname.lastname@example.org I have ideas… and these sweet kids are worth our time, love and resources…
Angel is the girl with the purple shirt holding the bowl. She is the only child in our bunch who is living with HIV. She looks so healthy. She is in a program where she gets the medicines. Her mama has it, and is very sick with it. We are keeping a good eye on her health, and Dr. Cindy is available anytime we need a consult.
