A few weeks ago, Donny received a medicine bottle from someone in his group from church that he runs with. It had his name on the top and described the contents: skittle pills 36mg 100% sugar. Directions: pick out all the yellow and arrange them in order then go with this person to Sadie Hawkins.
Clever eh? It was Marian Brewer, I garden with her mom at church. They are all just friends, and so a group of eight put their heads together and came up with a kookie plan for this sadie hawkins dance…. they decided to wear couples costumes. No one else at the dance were going in costume, but these kids had no qualms about showing up and standing out.
So the eight of them came over here for pictures before going to the dance. They took a detour before the dance and made a visit to Target so they could have a little fun with people while dressed up.
Ten minutes before they were to arrive, Donny googled the a picture of Waldo and said, oh I didn’t know he had a cane! I shrugged. I already scrambled to find his costume on the internet and it didn’t come with a cane. So, Marion arrives and hands him the cane. I had to laugh, it’s the clueless boy and prepared/ aware girl scenario, ageless, and steadfast. At Target the two of them were hiding behind things and peeking out, and their friends were asking strangers if they’d seen Waldo? I think that is pretty funny.
Wesley stood in front of Target posed with the lighted saber and people walking up said, “that is cool!”
After Target they ate dinner at a Hibachi, off to the dance, and then to an after party at Marion’s house. Donny was home by midnight though because we leave the house at eight am for church. It makes me so happy to know this kid is having fun his senior year because I still feel the heartache he received from having to move away from friends his sophomore year in Arizona. He reports now that he’s better off because he has both sets of friends!
