Kirabo Seeds

Kirabo Seeds is sowing seeds of God’s love in the lives of Uganda’s orphans.A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows is God in his holy dwelling”. Psalm 68:5Kirabo means “gift” in the Lugandan language, and it is the first name of our adopted daughter. We call her Kira.

Kirabo Seeds is a christian 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization called to care for the fatherless in Uganda by equipping the children there to fulfill their God given potential and create a family environment as they grow to become the future of Uganda. Our strategies to accomplish this mission are to follow God’s grace, provision and guidance first and foremost. We aim to foster relationships in Uganda so we can help Ugandans strengthen their bible knowledge, as well as create self sustaining opportunities for Ugandan churches to help their own children.  We work to connect people in America who have the desire and heart to help the needy children with the fatherless by creating a sponsor relationship.  We also educate and speak publically in schools and churches about life for the fatherless children in Uganda.

Dear Friends,

In 2010 we adopted our daughter Kirabo from Uganda when she was nine months old.  All through the waiting for her we prayed for God to give us a service project in Uganda so we could connect our lives with her home country, and ultimately so she could always be able to serve in her native culture.  We never dreamed we’d be directed to the care of an orphanage, but that is what we do, and we thank God for that answered prayer.  We have an excellent team of people in Uganda committed to helping us achieve the mission of caring for the fatherless.  Phiona works for us full time using her many gifts and talents to help the children with their homework, leading them in bible study, music, games, purchasing food, supplies, and just being there for the when they need someone to talk to about their problems.  She also manages the finances for Kirabo Seeds Uganda and helps Mama Tonya communicate with sponsors.  We have Abdul who manages the building projects and business endeavors.  Inspector Nakato helps us investigate the legal status of new children who come to our care as well as help us find the orphaned children, and Julie who is being trained to cook and manage the children’s home.  Herb and Ellen Cook run a guest house and have served as missionaries in Africa for more than thirty years.  They have blessed our ministry with the gift of their wisdom.  God alone has assembled this team for us, an we are humbled and thankful to be useful as we hope to release fatherless children from the cage of poverty and open up for them a world of opportunity.

Humbly we serve a great God,

Mama Tonya (James 1:27)

  • help organize a fundraiser
  • donate a goat for $150 or chickens for $100
  • volunteer your special gifts, talents, and expertise
  • invite us to come speak to your church or school
  • sell Ugandan beads to help us feed the children
  • ask your company to donate to Kirabo Seeds
  • make a one time tax deductible donation to help us build the children’s home in Uganda
  • buy one Ugandan beaded necklace for $25 to pay for a child to eat for one month

Kirabo Seeds Uganda ltd.

In February 2012 we began a company in Uganda, separate from our nonprofit in America, so we can begin to build Kirabo Seeds Children’s village.  March 2012 Kirabo Seeds Uganda purchased three acres of land in a desirable suburb of Kampala where we will build a children’s home for orphaned children.  We hope to raise food, keep cows, chickens, goats, and build a fish pond.  Some day we dream of building a school and a guest house, God willing.  These are all businesses that we hope will establish good jobs for Ugandans.  The profits of the business will go directly into funding the costs of running the orphanage.  We aim for self sustainability.   We are beginning this process now, and we need help.  Providing a healthy diet, health care, clothing, school fees, and resources for learning God’s word takes a community of loving people.  We hope you will follow your heart and consider changing a child’s life.If you would like to sponsor a child coming to our new children’s home, help us build the Children’s village, volunteer, fundraise, or donate talents please contact us, the children NEED YOU!
