I first fell in love with your smiles two years ago when I joined a mission trip to Uganda. Our team visited village churches and taught pastors about the sanctity of life. Your faces appeared quietly in the open windows, and at doorways. You greeted us pale people enthusiastically showing us smiles we could never forget. There are such intelligent minds behind those smiles and my heart ached to see all of you, every last one go to a good school, and fulfill all your God given potential. My family chose to pursue this love for you, take just one small child abandoned and alone and give her our family forever. When we look in her face and know her as our daughter, we also see all of you playing soccer with a banana leaf ball, climbing termite mounds for a new perspective, and dancing, always singing and dancing.
We can’t forget you. When God ushered us to the entrance of the church and orphanage in Kyengera on Christmas Eve 2010 we knew our lives would never be the same. We devoted ourselves to participating in making sure you would not go to bed hungry or spend your days aimless. God brought other people to you to help you go to school, to pray for you, and to remember you. There are more people who love you than you’ll ever believe is possible.
Here’s what I want you to know for sure… even after the enemy slithered in aiming to separate me from you, and keep all the good that was meant for you, we will not turn away from you. We will not be discouraged by the fools in this world who worship their greed and ignore Almighty God. What I have learned from my face to face with the enemy is that I love you more than I knew. I will obey God’s call on my life to fight for you. I am not afraid, no, I am strengthened, wiser, and armed with the power from God to go to battle for you. We all serve Him in this fight to protect what belongs to you… nourished bodies, a clean safe home, loving people surrounding you, spiritual leaders, teachers to prepare you for your future because you, beautiful children are the future of Uganda. We want to see you stand tall and make a difference in this world.
All we ask in return is that you bow before our Lord and give him thanks, praise and glory. Because it is first His love that pours through us and spills into you. Let it flow through you in the same way and leak out to others who need it. We are all created to crave the love of God, you can help make it easy to find.

Your love for these children is a beautiful example of God’s love and care for all His children, everywhere.
