Jordan had to write a poem for an english assignment. After I read it I was deeply moved by how strong his feelings are after his time spent in Uganda. Pulling his feelings out of him is like extracting a tooth. As I read his words I could see into the window of his heart and there are strong opinions, deep thoughts and great compassion for the orphans in Uganda. I am happy to see he has his own passion for the orphans we are supporting.
Across our state, across our country, around our world.
We can fix the problem but don’t.
We can change their lives and they can change ours, but we don’t.
We sit still as the need increases, they cry out we turn our heads.
Across our state, across our country around our world.
Holidays alone, birthdays alone, life alone.
We live life with more than enough, they live with nothing.
Living without a family, no mom no dad.
Millions are killed before they are born, millions who are alive are alone.
Looking out for ourselves, who looks out for them?
They live with our used and donated stuff.
Everyone deserves a family.
We say, “well it’s not my probem some one else can do it.”
Who?

Jordan, what beautiful, thoughtful words. Unfortunately they are true. Thank you for reminding us all of our responsibility for those who have so little.

Jordon, a wonderful poem and very, very touching, but unfortunately, true.
Someday, with your and others help, we may be able to help in their growth and development.
Love ya, Grandpa L
