I am not sure how many years ago Austin Texas had these ten foot guitars on display in the city created by artists to represent the live music capital of the world. There is one street in particular, east 6th street that has over 70 venues where live music can be enjoyed. This is the are where the up and coming artists find their break into the business.
These guitars were auctioned as a charity to raise funds for local charities. Some of the guitars were then donated back to the city for display. Much of the funds have been used to get healthcare for the musicians. It’s that kind of a town. I really enjoyed having a first look at Austin.
We have been told over and over, “aw, Austin is so cool”, but until we were able to walk the streets, feel the vibe of music, observe the creative characters roaming and lounging we weren’t sure we could believe it’s reputation. We ourselves have seen some of the coolest cities on this earth, so how could the capital of Texas stand next to those? Well, I think it holds it’s own. I also think it will be a place we’ll come back to again. The boys also came away from our trip thinking there is definitely something unique, unusual and remarkable about this city. We did not go into the bars to enjoy the live music because we aren’t big fans of the bar scene nor to we want to introduce our children to that. There was a moment of disappointment about this, because they wanted to hear excellent live music. I said, what do you think you get every Sunday morning?

I’ve been to Austin, Texas several years ago with a lady friend of mine and we had a great time. Visited the state capital and just enjoyed the beautiful city.
Glad you and boys went also.
love always
